SURVIVING THE ATTACK - Tom Schlieman began his career as a
police officer for the City of St. Cloud, MN
in 1989. Since then, he has served in many
capacities including FTO, Firearms
Instructor and Armorer, S.W.A.T. Team
Member, and Basic and Advance S.W.A.T.
Instructor for S.O.T.A. Tom is a two time
recipient of The Medal of Valor as a
survivor of two fatal deadly force
encounters.
Tom's training seminar called "SURVIVING THE
ATTACK" is a law enforcement power point
presentation designed to prepare all law
enforcement officers for surviving a deadly
force encounter. Tom's presentation goes
beyond the normal mandated officer survival
training. Officers learn how to prepare
physically and more importantly prepare
mentally for a deadly force encounter. Tom
covers both of his shootings with the aid of
power point and plays the audio of the radio
traffic and 911 calls. Tom speaks candidly
about survival techniques for the physical
and emotional traumas which may occur during
the aftermath. Tom also talks about his
experiences with the media, the Grand Jury
and the civil liability attached to deadly
force encounters. You will come away with a
better understanding and the confidence and
tools needed to "SURVIVE THE ATTACK!"
Special Agent Drew Evans has served
in a variety of Minnesota law enforcement
roles over the past decade, including patrol
and investigative positions in both
municipal and state agencies. He is
currently a Case Agent with the Minnesota
Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, where he
primarily conducts murder and abduction
investigations into some of Minnesota's most
complex violent crimes.
As a BCA Case Agent, he is also tasked with
investigation of officer-involved shootings.
In addition to his detective work and status
as a licensed peace officer, SA Evans holds
additional credentials as an Emergency
Response Team member, an in-service law
enforcement trainer, a college instructor,
and a licensed Minnesota attorney. He uses
his experience and education as a solid
foundation to provide pertinent, realistic,
and informative training that prepares
participants to use knowledge from his
sessions immediately in their day-to-day
activities. SA Evans has specialized in
training law enforcement officers from
across the State on Officer-Involved
Shooting investigations, demystifying the
legal and investigative issues that pertain
to every police officer involved in one of
these critical incidents.
