Purpose of this course: To give law enforcement officers:

  1. A comprehensive overview of basic interviewing and interrogation concepts and techniques;
     

  2. An introduction to a new and effective technique for interrogating the sophisticated suspect.
     

  3. An investigative edge during interviews and interrogations of witnesses and suspects. 

Recommended Participants would be officers/investigators who

  1. Desire a concise review on the topics of interviews and interrogations;
     

  2. Want to improve their ability to get needed information from cooperative and hostile parties, witnesses, suspects and victims - as accurately and completely as possible.
     

  3. Are looking for more sophisticated technique and more consistently effective results of interviews and interrogations.

Objectives of the Course - To demonstrate a thorough understanding of the

  1. Definitions of and distinctions between interviewing and interrogating.
     

  2. Basic techniques and guidelines for conducting interviews and interrogations.
     

  3. Elements of the "RIP Technique"
     

  4. How the "RIP Technique" works
