Sudden In-Custody Deaths create great stress

service. This presentation will address what
is believed to be a significant underlying
issue, provide up-to-date information

Chris Lawrence is currently on
secondment to a national research center as
a program manager responsible for portfolios
including less-lethal weapons, in-custody
death, and personal protective equipment.
Since 2004 he has been a Technical Advisor
to the Force Science Institute at Minnesota
State University - Mankato.
Chris is a staff instructor at one of North
America's largest police training facility
servicing the training needs of over 70
agencies and 22,000+ sworn officers. With
over 30 years of police related experience
including 25 years as an instructor, Chris'
past assignments have included Patrol,
Special Services, Criminal Investigation,
and Training in one of Canada's largest
largest municipal police service.
He has presented on police use of force and
sudden in-custody deaths throughout North
America, as well as Australia and Europe, to
police executives, investigators, trainers,
and line officers, as well as medical and
legal staff and has provided expert opinion
evidence in several North American
jurisdictions.
Chris holds a Master's degree in Leadership
and Training specializing in Justice and
Public Safety from British Columbia's Royal
Roads University.
